YIWEN PAN - Final Project Paragraph

The concept about my final project is the scene after heavy rain. Actually, at first, I want to photography the scene of rainy days, which meaning raining moment. However, whenever I came out with my camera and decided to photograph the scene, the weather changed and the sunshine came out. Therefore, I just decided to change the theme of my final project into “after rain”, especially focus on “mirror” created by rain on the ground. These mirrors are most special because they are very changeable, and can be changed by anything happened to them. However, we could also say they never change, because they will back to the normal shape after anything happen to them. Therefore, it actually implies some life lessons. Everything will be alright after the “rain”. You are the most original yourself by just staying the way you are.

Robert Frank Robert Frank first started out photographing fashion for high end magazines. He grew tired of the lack of creativity and decided to take a break from that world and work on his own. Frank wanted to capture something more than just a single person posing, he wanted something with meaning. In 1955 and 1956 he traveled around America to capture his own style of photography. This is when he created his most famous book, The Americas . This book caused a lot of commotion when it was first published. It was unlike any other at the time for its realistic story telling photographs. Each photograph told a story, instead of having it planned out and posed, Frank capture the real hard truth of America at that time. His use of black and white film helped to capture the mood and feeling he wanted to portray. In the book I took out from the library called “Story Lines” is a collection of images he photographed in Paris, Peru, London, Wales, Coney Island, and Chicago from 1948-2004....

Tobias Zielony             Tobias Zielony was born in 1973 in Germany. He studied documentary photography at University of Wales and artistic photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Most of the time he is focusing in photographing minorities in suburban areas. Most of Tobais’s photographs were taken in action, it seems like the photographer did not stage his photos. He prefers to take portrait photographs, but sometimes there is some number of landscape and city view photos.             A lot of his photographs have a shallow depth of field.
